The issue just keeps coming back and ive learned that the local Ford repair techs arent that good but it was a warranty repair. So heres the vid I made...the sound is more clear towards the end around 1:15,noise isnt really noticable until about 00:25.

Heres the issue:
I have been having issues with my tranny for some time, only 5th gear tho.
Ford has rebuilt all of 5th gear parts twice now.The problem is that while going between 65-80mph cruising 5th gear developes a kinda grinding/ratchet,repetative sound and you can slightly feel it in the shifter, but 5th only at those speeds.

Ive had it back not even 2 weeks and the problem has come back just like before except with a new twist,Im using 5th gear at lower speeds now(45mph) since it now has 4.10's.Just after I go into 5th it will make that same noise for about 2secs then stop until I hit 65-80mph.

Also after the tranny has really warmed up good its quiet as can be,sometimes not always..

Heres a parts list from the Ford invoice:

1St repair:lasted a couple months or so...:(
Bench mount and overhaul
kit-bearing
Synchro ays-5th gear
Bearing asy-clutch release
snap ring
Sprocket asy-driven
Cable asy-clutch release

2nd repair:didnt even last 2 weeks...
replaced input shaft needle bearing and pocket bearing
insert-gear change fork
seal asy-oil
kit-bearing
kit-transm control selector

This might not be helpful but, all the work they have done could have bought another transmission. At least you don't have to go through the B.S. insurance company! Get them to gut the entire Tranmission and replace everything. From dealing w/cars, I've learned that they are like people, something in your foot could cause a problem in a whole entire diff. area in your body, in other words try to get them to just gut the transmission and start replacing everything from the 5th gear down.

Well now the problem is my warranty has expired since the last rebuild,so if I go that route now...its my pocket they are gonna drain.Ill buy another rebuilt tranny before that happens.

But there work is still under warranty....

As for medical insurance and problems im not even gonna start..

Thx

They should have a 1 year warranty on all work...at least that's what they told me when they put my 3.73 gears in.

I had my 5th gear blow out on me driving up the road. Bearing or something just let loose and I lost 5th but no other gear. Ford fixed it with the same fix as you're #1 fix. 2000 miles later my rear end was toasted. Fixed that and another 3,000 (5,000 miles total) the 5th gear did the same exact thing on the same exact location on the interstate! I just got a rebuilt one from SmartParts Auto (~$700) instead of taking it back to Ford. Ford didn't even reaseal the tranny properly and when I had the rear end done the mechanic found it was leaking fluid. It was only a matter of time before it leaked all the fluid out and they say it was poor maintenance on it because it ran dry (like my rear end)...

Sounds like they are just patching and guessing at there work, you should really ask how those guys get paid, the way they do strictly commsion guys should be illegal. My shop teacher was a GMC master tech and told me that there warranty and insurance work gets half hearted attempts. My advice to you is to stay in whom ever is in charge of ordering what needs to be done face and let them know you're not going away. They will eventually get tired of hearing from you and looking at your vehicle cause its gonna cost them more than the transmission's worth. W/any luck you might get a bew tranny before the whole things done w/. Keep us posted!!

Yeah they warranty the parts and labor for 12 month/12k mile.

Im not going away, they are already tired of me over another issue,so as long as they have a warranty on the work they will keep seeing me.And after how much they charged the warranty company...well they dint need any more payment.

As for the small parts tranny,Ive been looking at just getting one in time, how are they?I live close enough I could just pick it up myself.
