First start has some ticking noises. I'm pretty sure it's the belt but wanted to make sure. I had changed the belt while trying to fix the second problem but it didn't solve it so I put back on the old belt. (The old belt was on when I recorded that sound).

Second start is the main problem. You can hear that squeak/squeal right about 11 seconds. It occurs during cold starts (doesn't necessarily have to be cold outside but if it's the first start of the day). This time it was very very quick. Some mornings it's super loud and then dies off lasting a few seconds. The sound is always never more than a few seconds. It doesn't happen after the car is warmed up. I tried changing the tensioner pulley as well. I've heard it could be the alternator, water pump, or the starter solenoid plunger might not be retracting fast enough causing it to hit the flywheel and grind? I've been trying to solve this for the longest time now and I am really about ready to just spend all the money on the dealership! Thanks in advance for any help!!

Third start has the sound as well at about 10 seconds.

Hey, let me know if you still need an id on this. If possible, can you save the files as .mp3? None of my mpeg4 audio players will play these files. Something wrong with the bitrates.

I have the same problem on my 04, it does a screeching sound. It seems as if its coming from the clutch but I just got it replaced about a month ago. Only when I start the car on a cold engine do I hear the loud screech but its only for the initial crank which lasts about 1 to 2 seconds, after that it sounds normal again.

slow.. can you record the sound and post it? I have no idea what you are talking about. I am not sure but I do recall hearing a quick "SCREECH" on some newer cars the moment the engine starts but the sound only lasts for about 1/8th of a second.

Do those files above play for you?

sorry for not replying in a while...I changed the belt on my car, that took care of the ticking sound.
