What's the best place to buy A/F ratio gauges?

I am in the market for a A/F ratio gauge. Or a Exhaust gas Temp gauge. Both are good tuning tools. If anyone knows where a good place to buy one is please let me know.

I really need to tune my 308. What's the best for tuning NA motors. EGT or A/F gauge.

I have the a/f guage from summit (can't remember which one, but it's carbon fiber looking ). Anyways, for tuning you're better off saving and buying a tweeker. At idle it bounces around and would only be a wide bench mark for tuning while under WOT. You would basically know if you're running lean/stochie (sp)/rich. Overall, it's just a distraction and something for your friends to watch. Maybe the exhaust temp is better...?

I think the EGT is better. But the A/F should stay stable at WOT. Thats where I need to tune it.

It's stable at WOT, but it's not a precise tuning guage. I just think your money would be better spent somewhere else if you're going for "real" tuning.

I just want it to be close. I just don't want to be super lean or super rich thats all. I know it will not be presise...but it will be close.

im not great with this stuff, but since you are doing it, i would go with a wideband set up. they have really come down in price. and much more useful for even attemptin to use it as a tuning aid.

Mike, I was able to tune out big time WOT/drivability problems with my Autometer A/F gauge, which I got from Summit. It definately isn't a wideband, but it's about 1/5 of the price or I would have one. Unless you are trying to digitally tune to hit a specific numeric/fractional ratio, then you were right- it's good enough. Can't speak for any other brands, but my Autometer is great and shows several very distinct patterns at all throttle positions, which is pretty helpfull while you're trying to diagnose problems. It's useless when the car is running good, except for the fact that you can verify it all the time. If you have the funds to be in the market for a wideband though, don't even think twice about it- you really can't beat them.

EGT might not tell the whole story
sure when you are running rich your EGT might be a little lower from cooling in the exhuast
but then again you could also be running a little rich and having the excess fuel burn inside the exhuast chamber causing high EGT

also timing is factor there
if you have your timing retarded your EGT will go up as well since you now have more gas burning inside the exhuast
while if your timing is far advanced that will lower EGT

a wideband A/F with a EGT would be best though
