whats the correct timing for 95 cobra?

just like the title says...i put my car on a timing light and it was at 26 so i timed it down to 14 and seems like i lost alittle power now idling at 600 rpm....help...

check to make sure your balancer is not spun.

sounds wierd to me. 14 is good for iron heads, and 26 is death.

And: was the SPOUT already pulled (The PO ran locked-out timing)?

The little chip that allows you to remove the computer from advancing timing.

do i need to undo the battery also to reset the computer??

The spout is a little gray plug on the passenger side by the airbox

Its plugged into a black plug and there are no wires coming out of the gray part. just pull it to make sure the timing is right.

I think 10* is factory.

done, i had no problems...just feels like it has any power though....

Spin the motor around to TDC on 1 and note the balancer's position.

If you found it on 26 when you first checked it .........

I'd have to throw in with Ben & JT about the hb may have slipped a bit.

Not all that uncommon with our 94-95 Stangs.

If the hb is good, seems like you woulda been dealing with the ping thing at a setting of 26

when i tried to time it with the spout out...i timed it at 15 deg.... when i put the spout back in it jumped back to 26 deg....

when you put the spout back in, thats when the computer takes over. just set the base timing, plug it back in, and let the computer handle the rest.
