Whats the difference?

Whats the differemce between Magnaflow exhaust, and the Magnapack exhaust?

They are both the same kind of muffler (straight through pipe with small holes in it, wrapped by sound-deadening material, not chambered like Flowmasters), but the Magnapacks are round and smaller (less insulation) -> more aggressive.

Oh, so I want to change my exhaust. I want to put in an aftermarket H-pipe (not an off road one, I'd like to still pass emissions), then a cat back exhuast. So whats best? I found a website that has sounds of each one, but I can't really decide. I want something nice an agressive, but not obnoxiously loud.

If your staying with cats, get the magnapacks, because if you get regular magnaflows with a catted mid pipe it really wont be much louder than stock LOL...even my O/R X and magnaflows my car is very quiet durring cruize compared to other O/R X GTs, BUT when I go WOT it gets darn near as loud as the rest of them. Sleeper when cruizing and scare the crap out of people when you hit it. Gotta love it.

granted I don't know anything, but I didn't realize you could have a non-catback exhaust. What makes an exhaust a catback or not?

You can buy just the mufflers (magnaflow, magnapack) or you can buy the whole catback which is the mufflers with all the exhaust tubing from the cats back to the exhaust tips.

What "H" pipe are you planning on getting? I'd like to swap out mine too but I need to leave the cats in.

BTW, my Magnapack catback with stock "H" pipe sounds awsome. I set off car alarms and at idle it is still "rumblely" enough to get compliments all the time.

I'm not sure, I just assumed that to get a good muscle car sound, you needed to switch out your h pipe too. But you say that it sounds good with just magna packs, so maybe I'll do that. I never intened on buying a new "h" or "x" pipe, but I thought you needed one.

Most people buy the H or X pipe not only for the sound but the added performance. The catback alone will prolly only get u about 5-10 horse and a nice exhaust tone thats a little louder than stock. With a high flow catted H or X pipe you will again increase the loudness, but also tack on another 5-10 horse. And if u decide to go with an off Road H or X it will be even louder with a much more agressive tone and another 5 horse ontop of the catted mid pipe. A properly selected exhaust system including the mid pipe and cat back system can gain you about 20 hp and very nice sound! good luck hope this helps.

Any suggestions for a exhaust system? Mine is bone stock right now. I'm open to anything, I was just using maganflow as an example.

I have the Magna-flow cat back and magna-flow high flow x-pipe, and it does NOT sound stock. The sound is awesome, I get compliments all the time. It also does not drone, I am a little older so I did not want the ultra loud exhaust, I have had the system on for a couple years now and do not regret anything about it. To each is there own for exhaust though, I had a friend change his exhaust out to O/R X and flow-master and some people thought it sounded great, to me it sounded like a large truck....again everyone has their own opinions..listen to some different set-ups and decide for yourself
