I think it would be a 65 coupe with the 170 engine and 3 speed manual.

Maybe, but those cracker box Mustang II's with a 4 cylinder and lightened up for fuel economy might take it. I don't have the actual numbers, but my future father in law and I once picked the back of one up with 2 girls inside.

According to the Mustang Redbook, the 65-66 Stang with a 289 was 2860 lbs. The 74-78 Stang II was 3290 with a 302. So it only stands to reason that the 65 with a 170 six and either a C-4 or a Toploader 3 speed would have been even lighter than a 4 cylinder Stang II.

Depends on the tranny and if you have a/c, but my guess would be about 3200-3400 lbs.
I tend to agree there, the Red book only lists the 428CJ for the weight on 69-70's and it's 3625. Of course if he lives anywhere near a public scale--- it's only $5.00 or so to find out the exact weight for sure. :nice:

yeah, i went over to the weight station and i guess they hadn't gotten many people asking to weight their cars so they just did it for free...

... but with probably 100 pounds of junk in my trunk, another person, and half a tank of gas my 66 with a 351w, C4, and an 8 inch came out to 3280 (1840 front, 1400 rear, if you wanna do the weight distribution), and I do have an aluminum intake but stock heads.

I figure that puts me at 3000 with just gas and driver, and down at 2800 car-only. Thats with the 351, too.

what did the 93??? cobras weigh? the car that they only made 200 of? no carpet,ac.p/w...etc.

93 cobras had just about every option available as standard equipment. They were not lightweights. The 95 Cobra R was relatively stripped down(no a/c, manual windows) and had a beefed up 351, but it wasn't very light either. I'd have to say that a 64-66 coupe would be the lightest of the bunch.

There was an R model 93 Cobra as well.
