I'm having some electrical issues that have me baffled. I did a 4 cyl. auto to 5 speed V8. Had some ground issues in the past but everything worked. Now with a new motor and ground fixed...got some strange gremlins. The safety wire on the clutch(the black one I think) works fine. But if I hook up the white one, the activation of this circuit makes the car dip then surge when the clutch is let out. What is menat to do. The other problem is when I put the car in reverse, that trigger for the rev lights makes the starter crank. For now, both of these problems are unplugged, and all is well, but I would love to figure this out.

Random thoughts:

IIRC, on the clutch pedal one switch is indeed the clutch safety switch and the other is for CC (so when you depress the clutch, the CC kicks off so the motor doesnt overrev).

I can envision the CC switch causing a surge as some sort of puter glitch - when that switch is activated, I bet the IAC opens its duty cycle to keep the idle up. I dont know how that relates to your wiring or anything else though - we need someone smarter than I.

On the starter grind, are you sure the reverse switch and neutral safety switch wiring werent somehow crossed?

Good luck.

I had issues because some of the 86 GT wiring wouldn't work. I ended up finding connections for all sorts of stuff and never spliced anything. But something is way off. Hope someone knows
