What's this noise?

My car is making a ticking/rattling noise. It sounds like its coming from under the valve covers or possibly my header. The sound does speed up with acceleration. I recently removed my heads and replaced them with another pair of e7's partially because of this problem, and of course the sound didn't seem to change. It kinda sounds like an exhaust leak, but i've replaced all the gaskets obviously. I replaced a few lifters which I thought looked bad. I even played with my timing to see if that would effect the problem. I tightened the rockers down to like 24ftlbs.

My car is a 94 GT.

It sounds like either noisy lifters or unadjusted rocker arms.

What do you mean by unadjusted rocker arms, I thought you didn't have to adjust pedestal rockers.

I'm just saying that's what it sounds like by what you're describing. You've already narrowed down the possibilities. It HAS to either be something in the valvetrain or and exhaust leak at the header.

do you have roller rockers?

Mine are stock and stock are pedestal mount not roller, there is a difference isn't there?

Yes, stock are pedestal non-roller

even though you cant adjust the stock rocker arms the have to be tq down right or they will chatter while your down there snug up your bolts to your headers
