this has been bothering me for the past few days

while i was installing my MGW, i noticed behind the dashboard plate that you remove, there is a plug for the cigarette lighter, but i also noticed an even larger plug for something else, i DONT have any buttons like t/c or anything that would use it. the plug is just randomly plugged into the back of the plate. what the heck is it for? (99 GT)

No, I thought a pic was coming.

I have not torn into a dash without T/C.

It is the wiring harness for the traction control, on 99GT's (and perhaps others) Ford only had one wiring harness regardless of which features a particular car came equipted with.

^^ Yup, thats what it is. Cars w/o TC have that plug. Which you can use for a Electric bottle opener if you have nitrous. Thats what my friend used it for in his 02 GT.

Thanks to my Diablo, my button's been glowing orange for the last 2 years . Once upon a time, I thought I'd try it in the snow, so I turned it back on during a snowstorm. I was first in line at a traffic light, it turned green and by the time I got to almost the middle of the intersection (with the t/c going nuts) the light had turned back to red. I let off the gas, switched it off, floored it, let the tires dig in for asphault and got thru. The heck with t/c!
