What's up with Stangers?

Twice in as many days, I've had people in other stangs try to race me.
One was an s197 vert, probably stock, tried to get me to take the bait at about 80 on.

Ok, so two things can happen here. 1. He's stock, (as am I) so it's a driver's race...but what kind of driving is there with one gear left?? 2. He's got amod or two, which means he'll beat me for sure. (These cars of ours are way too predictable!)

Today, I get someone in an SN95 Cobra trying to go from about 40. This was more tempting, since it wasn't the same car I was driving! I know it's a cobra, and it sounded good, but, there were two pretty good sized dudes in the car, and I figured the extra weight might've evened things out a bit!

ANyway, my point... What the heck? I can't get anyone ELSE to race me! Just other stangs! WHere's the fun in that? In my GM cars, 'stangs were the ONLY thing I wanted to eat. Now I can't get away from em!

Interesting. Someone mentions selling something and the thread gets closed. Talk about illegal street racing and there's no problem.

That's because there's nothing illegal about TALKING about illegal street racing!

1st ammendment rights, my friend! :nice:

Can you imagine what a boring place this (and all) car forums would be if there were content police shutting every "questionable" activity down? Please. I'd have to find something better to do with my time. (Like hit the streets!)

I enjoy racing sometimes. I ran my friends 99Cobra vert. And he got me each time. Though sometimes were a lot closer than others. I am stock with just having gotten the first oil change. He has an offroad x. And I believe a little tuning work.

Yeah, not sure I'd mess with a '99 Cobra while I'm in stock form.
Wasn't sure about the older SN95 cobra's tho. From what I understand, they're not as fast as the New Edge Cobra's and are probably a better match to an S197 GT.

Thoughts? (And I'm talking stock here...I don't want to hear about everyone's "buddy's 96 cobra that does 10's on NAWS" )

We still need a "racing" section on this site. Maybe not street racing, but a place to yap about everything else. Especially for the long technical boring threads that happen...and I miss! ;)

I had a 97 Cobra before this. And it had a few minor things done. Catback, C&L, shifter. And I think it was just slightly slower than my current GT. Though I doubt the new gt could have beaten it by much.
