WHATS WRONG WITH MY CAR?!?! It doesnt idle, pings like crazy + more

At first I thought my timing was off. Now timing is at 10* and when I put the spout connecter back in it wont run. When i turn the key it revs up to 2500 and then straight back down. When im driving the car feels jumpy and then when i give it some gas it pings badly. Not too long ago I did an intake swap and it never ran right since then. What else could be wrong? Im going to go see if the dizzy is off again right now. Anyone got a site of where all the hoses go after an intake swap? Im 99 percent sure its all right since i checked on my freinds car but theres still that one percent.

If it makes any difference, the car runs OK if my timing is wayyyyyyyyyy down. When i get 0* on the balancer my rotor is facing the #1 wire so thats all correct right?
It sounds like your distributor is off a tooth. Check out the position of my distributor. Notice the module is pointing forward. If you are a tooth of, your distributor is going to be pointing far left or right. The fact that you can line everything up and have the rotor point at #1 may be because you can turn the distributor far enough to allow it. Check it out I garrantee it's off! Let me know what you find, I 'm really interested to find out.

I'd say your probably off some to...when the plug is out, and its 0 on the balancer....take a Mag light and see if you can see the top of the piston??? Then turn the motor a tad and see if the pistons still going up or down...its a sure fire way to see if your at TDC....if your at what you THINK is TDC, you rotate it and the pistons still going up...your off....a look at your balancer will prove it....she'll be off from the 0...

What PRO50SC says is true....it takes some figuring out to see whats going on...its one of the funkier things to master....but once you get it...its tit to do..

Have fun..... :D

his timing is set to 10 degrees right, so it shouldn't have anything to do with that right, if the timing is right it's right ( at least thats what i thought ) if this is so when i had the heads off of the car my dist. isn't in the same place it was but i checked my timing with a timing light and it says it's at 10*'s

If mine is wrong as well do tell i will have to pull the dist and restab it.

thanks

well while i was waiting for a reply i started polishing things in my engine bay and endeed up at the MAF. Everytime i hear something about a tune up someone always mentions to clean the MAF., so i did. put the car back together and it runs fine, idles fine but when i check my timing my marks are nowhere to be found. what should i do, leave it?
