whats up! I have a 93 gt and I just had a clutch installed and the release barron and I didnt know at the time that my cars previous owner put a steeda cable adjuster on the car. So when the guys fnished putting in the new clutch and barron they said for some reason when they got the cltch where it felt good then the barron would ride against the clutch fingers. so when i realized that my car had the steeda adjuster I started adjusting but the barron is still riding the clutch fingers so if anyone can give me any ideas it would be greatly appreciated.

So your clutch is too preloaded?
Have you turned the FWA all the way in?

A clutch shop should have done all this for you.

So what do you think i should? They did some adjustment under the car cause at first the pedal was really loose and the barron wasnt scrubbing then they adjusted it and the pedal is good but the barron is scrubbing

I'd have them adjust it. That way if there is a warranty issue, they will be the ones who made the adjustment, not you.

I don't know what you mean about the pedal feeling good. Are you talking about the point of engagement? It's not adjustable stock (IIRC MM sells a kit that does allow one to adjust the engagement height).

I know I havent seen anything where you can adjust underneath either but they did something underneath that did change the engagement point but like i said at firtst the clutch pedal had no pressure on it and it disengaged at the bottom but then after they did whatever underneath the pedal had pressure on it and it released at the top. But as far as taking it back to them thats a definite no cause they screwed my car up they didnt put the exhaust back right and they messed up my door so im trying to start doing thimngs myself so i dont have to mess with anyone that knows even less bout stangs than i do. i really appreciate your help like I said Im trying to learn so I can do My own stuff.

When you say underneath are you talking about under the dash or under the hood?

The only thing he could have done under the car was mess with how the cable was seated in the clutch fork. There is nothing he could have done to the release bearing. If you have a stock clutch quardrant, the adjustment is made from under the dash.

I guess the big question is why would the throw out bearing be rubbing on the clutch teeth?

OK. Let me understand this. How do you KNOW it is rubbing? On my car the fork always keeps SOME tension on the bearing. It rides against the pressure plate all the time. I thought this was odd myself but apparently it is how it is. If I were to back my adjustment off until there was just a little play in the cable, the clutch would not work. Maybe I have an issue..I dont know.

lol, the whole barron thing was really screwing me up.....I was thinking he had some strangely named aftermarket doodad at first. I would take the car back to the shop and tell them to fix whatever they did, it's that simple, you paid for work and they didn't complete what you paid for man.

You can try adjusting the clutch so it engages in the middle. If you have an adjustable cable, it can be adjusted at the fork. If not, adjust your firewall adjuster (turn it clockwise to move the point of engagement lower).

And I mean this in the most sincere manner, but maybe you shouldn't work on cars if you don't know what the most basic of parts are called, such as bearings.

This was the point I was making with my earlier post.

IMO it is one that needed to be made, too. We all have to start somewhere and I'm not one that's going to ridicule another member, by any means. Sometimes we have to let the pros handle the job, while we're still learning - and that's OK.

Now for the clutch issues, if there's any problem then the installer needs to make it right. Failing to properly adjust the clutch is their problem, since they did the installation.

I mis-read what he typed and thought it said bearing...

Take it back to them. If they won't fix it, we can walk you through adjustment on the cable (the methods have been basically noted here already). It's not that bad, but it should be the shop's responsiblity.
