Are wheel spacers a good alternative to 10.5 rims. I want to fill the wide fender on the back, and am tossing around different ideas. One, do the 10.5 rims in the back...and have to get some nice 315's, but so expensive. The other is do the wheel spacers, maybe 1" on some 9" rims. This would put the tire out some, but obviously I'd not get the big fat tire look from the back.

Any downsides to spacers? Safety, handling, breakage?

my rims and tires are DEAD flush with the fender flares.


315's stick outside of the fender flares with the offset of my rims at least.


Though I am not familiar with wheel spacers, If you decide to go with tires, that information MAY come in handy, lol.

oops.. I run 285 toyo t1-r's

handling will be fine, if you choose a spacer get a Hubcentric one

Sooooo, maybe getting 10.5's and doing the 285 or 295 instead of 315's would be a good option. I love the 315's...but can't afford that much on new tires all the time, mine is a daily driver....about 20k miles a year prolly. 285's cheaper on average??

a 9" rim with either 275's or 285's will put it flush with the fender

Was looking at MM's alloy spacers, maybe be a bit before I do this, but trying to find cheaper ways of getting a good look in the back without spending a fortune on tires which I can't afford now.

When you guys say flush with the fender in the back with 9"...you talking about the bottom or the top...just seems like the pics I've seen of anything but 315's seem to fall short of the fender on the top. Maybe its just angles of pics.

I'm running 9.5" AR torque thrust IIs with 275/40/17s with 1" hubcentric spacers on the rear

they sit flush and look real sweet...everytime I look at a stock set up now, the rears look pushed in way too far

I've had a 1 inch spacer on mine for like a year, no problems yet.

I say 'A' spacer, because it seems my rear axle is mounted offcenter to the right (passenger side) like one inch, so I need a spacer on the rear driver side tire or it looks really goofy from behind.

If I had the choice though, i'd probably go without spacers.

I say just get 9" with 275s. That should fill it out nice enough. You don't really need 315s on a dd that does 20k miles.
