I have 225 55 16 tires with the stock waffle rims.
Can I fit 255 50 16 on there?

The only thing that would be different is the profile of the tire. I dont see why they wouldnt fit.

I believe a 245/50 would be better choice.

the 245/50 would be closer as far as diameter, so your speedo would still be accurate. But the 255/50 would also fit the rim.

I ran 245/45's on my 16's
From what I was told for each width size you go up, you must come down 1 size on the sidewall.

A 255/50 will fit fine. I now people who run this size on their rear wheels all the time. I just would not go any bigger. Also the height of the 225/55 is roughly the same as the 255/50 ( 25.75" vs 26.0" ) total height of tire

I wonder if 265 50 16 would fit and not rub, I do not care about the added height, I got 4.10s & a Speed-cal so I can adjust the speedo.

I could probably use the extra inch
