you call mike at cartech and order up a street sleeper turbo kit with the upgraded T61 just like i did today

its still gonna be 6 weeks before i get it, but i am freaking pumped---i won't be able to sleep tonight.

plan is to get a pair of bigger chamber heads to go in place of the afr's i have on there now, find a stock cobra cam(may use a steeda cam), slap my cobra intake back on there, buy up the 62 lb/hr accel injectors, find a blow through maf, and git r tuned at a local speed shop that has done a few of these before.

Ben

Would it make much difference if you used a thicker head gasket

i thought about that for a while, but what it came down to is i am not willing to take the risk to damage expensive heads when something grenades.

i've already got the heads sold, and i am going for HUGE torque numbers---i want a tire fryer.

i have also read a few times that a thicker head gasket can actually make detonation worse---not a theory i am well versed on, but who knows.

down the road when i get a good bottom end i may put some better heads on it.

what about a set of gt40 or gt40p heads, their cheap and better then e7's

i'm kicking myself right about now for getting rid of mine last year.

p's are out due to the plug issue, and everyone wants a chunk of change for regular gt40's---hence my thread for cheapy alum heads :D

i can trade a throttle body for a set of E7's with a guy at work, they have some bowl work and bigger valves.

i dunno we'll see, i still have a few weeks.

Did you not say

"I'm Goin Turbo"

Case Closed ... Finished ... Done ... No More To Be Said .........

You will certainly obtain your expectations :rlaugh:

yea its pretty much the end all for performance

I always wondered if there was alot more heat build up underneath the hood because of the turbo? The stock mustang seems to run hot enough. Is there alot of problems with heat, or nothing a huge radiator and intercooler cant fix?

i've already got a fluidyne radiator and i'll be installing a meziere elec water pump in a couple weeks.

as for the heat, yeah i'm sure it does do a number on some stuff. the sales guy said i should prolly heat wrap my a/c lines, and i'm sure i'll wrap the hot side too

You know what Ben

I have seen many of the power adder boys talk about how much
better an Aluminum head is due to their ability to help with the
ping thing and even those older technology Aluminum heads have
thicker decks than oem iron heads to help with lifting under boost.

I saw a fellow who has built many, many very quick turbo setups
make a statement along the lines

"Any ole cheap Aluminum head will do just fine with boost" ......
and
he went on to give the above two reasons

He also said those two reasons were more important to him
as opposed to
Better flow rates you might receive from Aluminum heads

His reasoning for the flow rate thing was ....
The turbo is gonna force air/fuel in there anyway

This info I talk about is from like maybe 4 years ago
Seems like his name was Mike Sitar or something like that

Just something I remembered that made sense to me :)

grady---keep twistin my arm, i really would like a set of alum heads.

sn95-mat----its cartech.net

paul---this guy beat me too it(and just a wee more beastly than mine will be), but i would still bet i am the only turbo'd 2 top with a 6 speed.

I know you remember them ;)
but
I also know you don't wanna remember them :rlaugh:

So here we go :) :) :)

Hey Ben :D

Remember about a year or so ago

Those A L U M I N U M take off heads that were everywhere
and
They could be bought for something like 599 or 699 BUX

Now when you need one

Ya can't find a dad gum bargain like that anywhere :bang: :bang: :bang:

Keep Lookin Ben :nice:

Good things come to those who persevere :D
