When to switch to synthetic oil?

At what mileage should you be able to switch to synthetic oil? I have 4000 miles and need an oil change. My dad told me to use synthetic oil like Royal Purple cuz I could get more power. Would it be cool to do this with so little miles on it?

its ok to change to synthetic after 1000 miles. i love royal purple and recommmend that.
