Where do you guys your new bolts/screws

I've had the best luck with Ace Hardware...they seem to have the biggest selection of bolts/screws in standard & metric in all different grades etc...

Everytime I end up going to Lowe's or Home Depot for a "specific" size, I end up at Ace. Not sure if they have those in your neck of the woods, but they are great.

would I find something like a distributer cap bolt there? You know the bolts after you remove the cap and then on the inside of the distributer you see two phillips head screws that actually can be taken out with a 6mm socket. I broke one today. :nonono:

This sounds trivial, but make sure the "minor" bolts are at least Grade 5 and make sure you're buying the right thread sizes. If you buy a bolt that is just one thread off and use it in the wrong place, bad things could happen, quickly.

With that said, I've had good luck with Home Depot. The local speeds shops should be good about carrying miscellaneous bolts, too.

How do you take a phillips head screw out with a socket. Are they hex head screws that have a phillips slot cut into the top of them?

There should be no reason why you can't go to any hardware store and pick up a standardized replacement socket. Just go down there with good one and match it up in the sizing thingy they have to check the correct one you need. Ford is gonna charge you out the a$$ because dealership are good about that in my experiences with them. Just go to Lowe's man or whatever hardware store is closer. I'm sure any of them can help you out. :nice:
