My directional lights ('67 coupe) stopped working and my arm is getting wet out the window. My first thought is the flasher, but I can't find it. I have looked under the dash the best I can, but thought I'd ask before moving on to the next step of removing items from the dash.

When I move the directional lever, I hear one faint, muffled click from up under the dash but I just can't pinpoint it. When I return it to the "off" position, I hear a faint "clunk" type of clicking sound that almost sounds as if it is coming from the other side of the firewall (engine compartment)? Ideas?

If you are hearing your flashers going click click, click click then I think they are still working. You have to take the instrument cluster out and they are behind that. I would check your bulbs and fuses before you go pulling the dash open to check the flasher.

I will check the bulbs just to make sure but I believe they are ok. I am only getting one click when I turn them on, (without any light) then nothing. When I shut it off, I get that one, duller sound.

My 67 flasher is under the dash/driver's side. Looks like a little canister that plugs in. It is hard to see with the seat in but it is there.

Does your emergency four way flasher work? If so, just swap the two. They are usually in the same place and held in place by a "snap in" type holder.

Thanks guys, I'll give the flasher swap a try to pin down the issue. Guess I will have to bury myself up under the dash a bit better, after elk season is over that is.
