Oh man. That brings back some memories. I can't stop laughing now. Nothing like laying in the top bunk at night and hearing all the jets take off from the San Diego airport while you get your ass chewed for 14 more weeks private. Oh that sucked. "this is my rifle, there are many like it but this one is mine".

I went through RTC San Diego. I don't think I'll forget the air traffic. My barracks were right at the end of the runway.

Man, I was there for Thanksgiving, Christmas, AND new years. I remember waking up for fire watch on New Years eve and standing by the window to see fire works from civilians outside of MCRD. Talk about being homesick. There were always days when your platoon couldn't pull it together and the D.I's would just beat the crap out of ya all day long. And then there were the days when the platoon was fluid and the D.I's were like positive yelling fathers Those were the days.

I think the worst time was when we came running into the barracks to use the head and we were on the grinder doing drill with our rifles. YOU NEVER TAKE YOUR RIFLE INTO THE HEAD! Well, I had to go so bad, so ummm, I took the rifle into the head. That was some crazy punishment!

I was in during Christmas too. I will never foget the D.I getting us all in formation and making us sing Happy Birthday to Jesus. Now I can't stop laughing when I think about it.

Who all here loves "FULL METAL JACKET"? Is that not the best rep. for boot camp life or what? The beginning of the movie was boot camp, that lasted only about 40 min. or so, now do that for 14 weeks 24/7.

We had two guys try to commit suicide. Stupid. One suceeded and the other got a section 8.

LOL, the D.I.'s made us hang our boot socks from the ends of our bunks. They actually filled them with stuff from our wiskey locker, . The guys they spent most of the time calling rocks, they filled their socks with rocks

I was not in the marines, but when I went through AF basic I was standing next to a guy who was asked why he joined. He said he loved the corps.

luckily he drew the attention of all the TI's away from everyone else.

this was the first five minutes of the first night of basic.

LOL! How bout:

ZEROOOOO => Freeze recruit freeze!
And of course after every command we would say "KILL!" i.e.:
Everyone on the quarter deck, do it now.... MOVE! => KILL!

I remember sitting outside of Dental, we got our platoon to quote this:

We the few,
The vicious few,
Band of Brothers,
For he who shed his blood for me,
He is my brother,
Blood for blood,
Brother for Brother,
United States Marine Corp.
There is no other!

This is all I can muster:

2) To walk my post in a military manner, keeping always on the alert, observing everything that takes place within sight or hearing.

I do remember my rifles serial number: 6566189

From the halls of Montezuma, to the shores of Tripoli.
We are the finest fighting force the world has ever seen.
Challange us with grace and we'll **** your face.
Just like tradition in the air, the land and sea. Platoon 3064,
Senior Drill Instructor SGT Yaradi. Oorah!!! Oorah!!! Oorah!!
Came up with that little ditty when we were honor platoon and won everything.

I was in platoon 1011 Bravo company. We had one of those little chants, but I don't know if I can remember it, that was so long ago. I do remember learning how to steal toilet paper though, lol.
