If im in a junkyard in search of a 8.8 rearend what vehicles would i find it under that would be suitable for a stang?

The rear on T-Birds is supposed to work.

What about a good t-5 or something even stronger than that with stang gear ratios? im assuming a truck tranny gear ratio would be WAY different

87-88 Thunderbird Turbo coupe gives you 8.8, with 10.5 disc brakes. The TC's with manual had 3.55 gears and auto had 3.73 gears. See http://www.svo73mm.cjb.net/ for more help. I did the swap and it is well worth while.

Too bad you aren't in Central Florida - I have the old 8.8 rear end sitting out by the curb for the trashmen to pick up. I guess it's too heavy for them to lift, because it's been sitting there for months.
