On short throw shifters, Hurst specifically but common in many, there's a little round black "puck" that slides over the installed shifter and rest on the base under the boot. You use set-screws to lock the entire shifter to its installed assembly. Otherwise you could pop the shifter up in the air with only the magnets in the base to hold it down.
Any one know how to get that part? I don't see it on Hurst's site, nor Ebay. Any ideas on a backyard hack? Thanks.
