where to get a dust boot/shield for rear shock?

heya i took my rear shocks off to install my lakewood 50/50s today, the shield on the one i took off seemed to be fixed to the shock, right now the lakewood it on without a boot/shield so the rod is out in the open, i fear rocks will hit it and ding it all up.

does the boot come off of the shocks i took off? its a gabriel shock
or will the lakewood be fine without it?

i just didnt know if a rock was going to fly up and put some deep scratches on the rod.
