Not sure if this should be in talk or not, though I have a question.

My intake manifold has cracked and I now need to replace it. It's leaking coolant all over the place ....

My question is, where can I buy one for cheap, and how hard is the install?

I remember at one point in time, mustangtuning had it for the cheapest amount.

This will be for a 98 GT

Salvage yards might be a cheap alternative
I've ended up with stuff that was in better condition in a yard than the original on my car

Well, I've just looked at some from Ebay and have found one in my area though used with 29k miles.

Any clue on websites which sell new ones for cheap?

Are you wanting a PI intake? If not I'm in Killeen, TX and have my old stock one that is in great shape if you want it.

Alright.. This deserves a bump since I STILL need one

I should have replaced it months ago, though I rarely drive the car

So.. Who has the original (non pi) for a cheap price?

I got mine from GEFRacing with the aluminum runner for $199.00 Give them a call.

I checked out gefracing before I gave this a bump (this is a old post).

They have the PI intake, though I don't have PI Heads

I'd rather go with what came (even if it's the dreaded plastic). The plastic held up for 100k miles.

I've read about using the PI Intake with the NPI, though im not too sure if im up for the "rigging" of things.

Thanks for any info which you can give

with the PI intake you will gain some noticble horses'in the higher end range of things, spring for it , it may be a little more than the stock but its worth it, Then later down the road if you choose do a pi head swap your halfway done. It easier than you think to install..... beer, bong rip, and some friends, an hour tops.

Well, Im not really planning to make my car any faster. I have 106k miles and.. adding horsepower will only make more things break

I just hit 100k and did a pi head and intake swap and the car runs faster, better and cleaner than before, plus if you take care of the internals , i.e. oil change , tunup, the block is good for like 200k easy. Just dont be stupid and rev ever time a car passes and you'll never worry about crap breaking.

if you do get the PI intake you need to get the adapter too. and it is worth it, i'd never put back the stock intake again.

www.ParkwayPerformance.com has the entire kit down to the bolts and gaskets for $1,320 shipped. comes with heater hose, dipstick tube, spark plugs, all new factory oem parts. check them out its were I got my kit, iT ROCKS !!!

I'll stay away from that.. I've seen the intake for $180 new, and if I remember correctly, you can get the parts for under $30...

Buying a used non pi intake might be risky since you never know when it's going to crack on you, and you know it will happen eventually.
Someone sells kit that makes the PI intake a complete bolt on, no modification necessary but I think it's $600. I forget who.
The parts department in Modular Depot has the Non PI intake for like $200 new.

Did you actually give them a call or only look on their website? I don't think they list it anymore but they may still have them in stock.

Or check with Randy Stinchcomb on the Mustang Depot board. He used to get them for us pretty cheap. And don't go with the plastic runner again or you'll be changing it again in the future.

I have a non PI one off my 97. It isnt cracked and was replaced by the dealer when I bought the car so the intake has around 20000 on it. It doesnt have the aluminum crossover though.
