Where to launch....

When I was mostly stock with the exception of full exhaust and 373's the best rpm launch I could manage was at the 2,000 mark and slipping the clutch a little. It takes a few passes to get a good launch with street tires cuz they'll beak loose real easy. If you have stock gears you might be able to launch a little higher. My best came out to 14.3 at 98 and that was my first time out at the track when I was in high school...good luck

do a good burn with the tires, I know everybody else says its worthless, but its not, heat em up and start dumping at 2k and work yer way up, slip it if needed.

i wouldnt even take the trip to the track until you get a sticky tire.

street tires will spin to easily and seeing how it will be your first time out. with no expierence racing it at the strip and with no traction. i doubt the car will come close to running what its capable of.

with street tires its harder to run down the track. you have to worry about launching and sometimes you have to worry about busting the tires loose shifting into 2nd gear if you have some mods and etc.

with a sticky tire you wont have to worry about tire spin and you can focus on reaction times, 60 foots and running the fastest possible.

i say wait and get good tires and eliminate the biggest problem you will have now instead of fighting it with street tires.

doing a burnout on street tires is utterly worthless unless you like paying for tires. and it pisses off the people behind you that actually like getting traction.

I think that doing a quick spin is the best. Spin em enough to get all dust/dirt off of them and just put a little heat into em. Spin em for about 3-5 seconds in first....NO SMOKE...just clean em off.

Havent any of you been to a track on street tires?

1. drive AROUND the waterbox You do not want water in the tread or dripping back onto the tread

Find the line where people have burned through about 3 ft past the box, where the track is dry. There is alot of rubber here.

Take it to @ 3200 and dump it, just feather the gas; all you want to do is clean the tires and pick up a little sticky rubber/ any tracked VHT

Launching is odd, its car dependent and where you have your timing/how you can drive. After repeated bogs and blowing the tires off, I found with a DEAD stock car, with 12 degrees initial to bring it out @ 2800 and slip the clutch FAST

A STREET RADIAL tire will actually have a larger contact patch with a few #'s MORE than recommended inflation. Taking air out on a streettire is old wives tale and will actually cause the tire to cup slightly and DECREASE your contact patch.

This method yeilded me 2.2 60's on a stock street car, which isnt too bad cosidering.

Car went an uncorrected 14.9 @ 89.8 with a 2.2 60' 12degrees initial 89 oct at Salem, Ohio's retardedly high elevation Quaker City Dragway

just feel out the launch, and try not to bog it, if it frys give it a little clutch; just dont ride it too bad


or launch like my laser....around the waterbox, no burnout, 6800 slip 1.72 60' on street tires

keep an eye on your 60's

Its all dependent on how well they prep the track...if you get em hot and they prep poor, expect to spin alot

I don't think you need ANY help buddy- A 2.0 60ft is great with stock tires. that's about as good as you'll get.
