Where to put CD player ?

I know no one want to hack up there dash just to put in a CD player.So of course i want to put it in my glove box,but what i wanted to know is how do i make the bow for it? or is the a kit i can buy for it? Oh its going to be in a 67 coupe, any info will help

Just use one of them detachable faceplate ones. Just the other week I had a freinds car get broken into only to steal the faceplate. Apparently the guy used a flat screwdriver to pop out the key lock above the door handel and giggled the mechanism to unlock the door, got inside and stole the faceplate. Pretty lame, and the faceplate costs like 200$+ and now hes got some body damage where he bent the metal to pop out the door lock and messed up the paint around the area.

Had he of taken the faceplate off, the car wouldn't of gotten broken into.

Kinda makes me think about streamlineing my own car doors and useing a remote controlled electronic door poper, do away with the door handels and locks all together.

I'm cutting my dash. It is my car and I want the cd player accessible to me when I drive. If the next guy wants to repair it, ok. I don't want to deal with trying to operate the hidden radio, I want to enjoy my car.

I have a 67 Fastback, and in my car I ordered a 1967-68 Radio Bezel from Mustangs Plus Part# 01994, then I took the Player Bracket and inset it against the Radio Bezel. I used a Marker to trace around, and used a Cut-Off wheel to get the exact fit. It looks like it came from the factory.

Metra makes an under-dash kit that looks nice and works well in a 67 if you don't have a console. They are about 20 bucks.

I have a 70 and i just pulled of the stock panel and went to the metal shop and had a custom fit plate made. Then i layed the cd changer on the backseat and put speaker boxes on the back deck under the window. Easy enough. They sell plates and panels that you can put in but they aren't really worth it.

if you don't have a console, the 67 uses a seperate bezel for the radio, making the repair of a cut one much easier. You can probably buy a used one off of ebay (maybe even already modified...that's where I sold mine when I put a console in) and cut if if necessary and keep the original. Or cut the original if the finish isn't so hot and buy a repro one for later.

My cd player will be accessible because it came with a remote,but the reson i want it in the glove bow is because i want the stock look.

mustangs unlimited just came out with a CD player that has a bezel too, bolts into the stock location.. no cutting.. made by blaupunkt .. for non console cars

i don't see why everyone is so up tight about cutting the dash. i mean people cut open hoods, 1/4 panels, frames, various body parts.. everything really, yet for some reason everyone is afraid to cut the dash, can some fill me in? its really not that big of a deal

67 and 68 cars are the easiest to install CD players into. I found a used bezel at a swap meet that had been patially hacked to apparently fit som older cassette player. Got it really cheap and it was no big deal to grind and file it out some more to fit my Kenwood Excelon. I did have to sand one corner of the snap on trim plate a bit, but it's unnoticeable. looks and works just great.
The best part is I can take out 4 screws, disconnect the wires and plop my original bezel and AM radio back in anytime I want.

I just cut the little radio bezel, no big deal. Take a dremel to it and it takes maybe 10 minutes. I've got plenty of pics of mine if you want them. My host is being weird right now so i can't do that and they are too large to attach, so if someone wants to resize em or host them let me know and ill email them.

pre 67 cars had the stock radio mounted in the dash, to cut them you would have to make a permanent hole. It could be fixed with installing a dash from a donor car, or a patch panel.

67 and up cars have removable bezels that the stock radio was mounted to.

I couldn't bring myself to cut the stock dash so I bough an underdash housing and just flipped it upside-down. Worked perfectly for my needs. Let me know if you want bigger pictures.

I just don't think this is a big deal to install a cd player. Its not like your cuting up your car to install a tv or magic 8 ball. It's your car, if you want a cd player put one in.
