Where were you on this morning 19 years ago?

And think back on the aftermath,...especially in these times almost 20 years later....It was the one time in my life where everybody in this country was on the same page. Not a liberal or a conservative USA,...ONE USA.

I was In my 5th grade class and heard the plane fly over the building in Staten Island . I’ll never forget it as long as I live . It was like no other low flying plane I ever heard . At the time we didn’t know but the girl who sat a chair from me - her father was a firermen as well who was in the building and didn’t make it out .

My classmates one by one started being pulled early from class .

I was eager to hear my name not realizing what was taking place . Finally I did . Got in my mothers truck and she started racing home with my 1.5 year old sister at the time . Once I saw the tv we were terrified as we watched the 2nd building come down .

You used to be able to see the towers from a far from my dining room window . I’ll never forget the plum in the air for days , and the silence outside that night and nights to come . It sounded like a snow storm had just occurred that’s how silent it was .

A younger friend of mine just turned 19 a few days ago . Big into cars - talks to me - sometimes for advice . His birthday was a few days prior to 9/11 . He never met his father and I was lucky to and am able to tell him what a good man his dad was . His father was apart of rescue 1 and the first on the scene . He never made it out of the tower and his son was never to Physically meet his father to actually remember . Only has a picture of him holding him in the hospital . Every year it breaks my heart more and more . Not only for him but the whole city i live and grew up in . So I’ll never forget .
