Is there a local discount source for aluminium heads. I am going to replace my GT40 iron heads. Is Summitt or JEGS the best way to go?

Thanks

If he can, Brad will match online prices for performance parts from companies that he is an authorized dealer for.

I know in years past JDSperformance.com had some of the best alum head pricing.. They are not local, but if you end up going mail order check them out.

Back when I did my alum heads I bought bare castings off Ebay and built them up the way I wanted getting all the rest locally. I ended up $~950 all said and done after shipping, machine work, valvetrain and tax. Nice thing was I had springs and retainers that I knew were matched with my cam rather than "generic sotck" units that come with the heads prebuilt.

If you want to buy locally, Schucks will price match advertised specials AND give a 10% military discount. Go to their big store in Lakewood where they have Edelbrock heads on display in a separate performance section of the store.

There's a guy here in vancouver that sells complete alum heads for i think around $500. There was also a right up in the mags about some alstrailian heads comming out that did really nicely on a 347, i looked into these for the 408 and they are around $800 for a pair wo/ rockers. But then again if it was me then i go threw summit no one can match there prices. Plus there is a place in the mag that sells the gt 40 swirl heads in alum for $700, and if you can get them in and at the right time they have them for $500 a set that are take offs! The majority of these heads flow almost as good as the big names plus more and more companies are producing heads and other parts for the stangs so the prices are comming down! peace

Were they ProTopLine? Their castings are certainly comparable to, say, AFR's. I was trying to remember if they went out of business, or were acquired by another company. I think PTL is(or was) based in New Zealand. Either way, they were a good value, as they were a tad cheaper than AFR's for a comparable size.
