Which air filter for EFI in 66 Mustang?

Hey Everyone. Great site, great forum. I'm putting a 93 5.0 (all stock) in my 66 Mustang coupe. I have one problem that I haven't solved yet. What would be a good replacement filter that will fit on the STOCK air intake pipe? I went to my local auto parts store and looked through all through their filters, but none was a great fit. Any of you had this problem and solved it? Or, what filter will slip right onto the stock air pipe? Thanks a lot in advance.

I'm sure K & N made an open element filter for the stock pipe. Try looking up a 93 5.0 Mustang filter. I think Autozone is selling them now and they have a website.

K&N conical fits on the Mass Air Flow Meter.
I don't understand what you mean by on the stock air pipe.
Stock uses an air box with filter inside it.

I know that K&N has one that fits on the Mass air meter. The end of the filter bolts to the inner fender on a 93. They want ~130 for it, and I'm hoping to find JUST the filter cheaper than that.

I understand your need to find that bargain. If you can't, what about wrecked 5.0's in a junkyard or salvage yard that have already installed one. The filter will just need cleaning and re-oiling. That is a rediculous amount to pay but it will be the last one you buy, ( the recharge kit seems to last forever once you purchase it).

This might not be exactly what you were thinking, but .. the stock air filter fits the stock intake hose just right. Pretty easy to mount in the original battery tray location on the '66 (at least it was on my '65). Just a thought.

gary ask to look at the k&n book at advance i found one by dimension to fit my mass air meter wasnt speced for a mustang wea around 35$ thay had it the next day
