Which axle goes in which side?

On an 8 inch rear what side does the short axle go in and which side does the long axle go in?

if you cant figure it out from looking at the axle housing, just try the longer one in one side, if it is on the wrong side it wont go all the way in, right?

You can just measure the axle tubes. I believe the short one goes on the drivers side.

K, thats how i had it and the one side was on but the other side wouldnt go in the inch that i need it too and it just got me confused..... and i didnt want to rip it apart again, but too late already did that oh well thanks fellas for the quick response.
