Out of curiosity, stock vs. stock, how are 99+ GT's compared to 96-98 SVT Cobras? Thanks

were the 96-98 Cobras overrated at 305hp? ...i mean the 99+ GTs are rated at 260hp.. and well they are virtually the same in performance .. my cousins ex-97 Cobra had nothing on me...i beat him many times... were both stock with K&N filter.. we always raced from a stop and i was always ahead at the end ..usually 100mph when i decide to shut it down ...and hes not pulling me or anything .. i will admit im the better shifter.. but even when we hit 3rd gear he didnt appear to be pulling at all..with that in mind id say drivers race...

I didn't think the 96-98's were rated at 305 horses. The 305 horsepower bump came in the 99's and up. I think they were rated at 265 horsepower, if I'm not mistaken..............

Yeah, theyre much closer to the 260 mark than 305. Ive heard they are pretty damn close as far as 1/4mile times.

uh.. no.

96-98 Cobras are rated at 305 horsepower.

99+ gts are rated @ 260 horsepower

302 ft/lbs of torque vs 300. the Cobra reaches it torque peak much later so it loses the race at the beginning of the race but it catches up in the top end.

pLus the Cobra weighs a bit more.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.........................no. 96-98 Cobra: 305 HP 300 Tq. If the 96-98 makes 260 HP please explain why there are many N/A BOLT-ON(stock heads and cams) 96-98 cobras running mid 11's while there are only a handful of N/A H/C/I/E SOHC GT's barely hitting low 12's??????

I've raced my brother a few times when I was stock vs his stock 96 cobra...it was really close in 1st and 2nd gear but 3rd is where the GT dies and the cobra pulls away.

Wrong 96-98 were 305 (similar engines to the new Mach 1's) while the 99 and 2001 Cobras were rated at 320hp.

the 96-98 cobra engines are not even close to being similar to the Machs engine. my buddy has a 96 cobra with 4.10s, flowmaster and o/r h pipe it is a deadeven race at the track in the 1/4 mile with my 03 gt. But he also sucks at driving and cant hook up. A matter of fact his best time to date is a 14.38@101mph while mine is 14.02@101mph. I think if he was completly stock i would honestly rape him.

based on track experience, stock 99+ gt's run low 14's and high 13's. cobras run high 13's and if there's a good driver, mid or low 13's.

Cobras pull a LOT harder past 4000 rpms ported heads and cams will help a lot for the GT's.

Actually the Mach 1 is very under rated. I've personally seen one dyno 299 HP with a catback and K&N. Compression is higher in these. 10:1 I believe.

As far as the 98 Cobra against a 2002 GT, stock to stock, same driver, the Cobra will own.

Bone stock except for a K&N my 98 Cobra vert with dunlop 245/45 ran 13.8 @ 103 with 2.2 60' all day long.

With 3.73, o/r h-pipe, pullys and bridgestone 285's potenzza's she ran 13.2 @ 105 with 2.0 60'

Thx. Yea I figured the Cobra's would be faster. Nothing like revving to 7k on a V8.

I was talking about HP ratings dude (And yes, I know that the Mach Dyno's higher than it's rated...so don't bother pointing that out) I know the engines are different.
