Plastic. Chrome will just heat up. Try and get one that goes into the fenderwell.

plastic ones are good, the chrome ones are good looking, i have seen people wrap them in heat resistant stuff so they dont heat up. The ones that dump into the fenderwell arent always the best because of the 90 degree elbow before the MAF. i belive it casues the motor to run rich. Just do what i and a few other here have, get the cheap chrome one off ebay, get your sawzall and cut the 90 bend off where it begins to curve, and get a 9" or 10" k&n filter and a heat shield. here is a link with a few pics of what i am talking about. http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=433668&highlight=mac+cai

i have the steeda one, the only reason i have it is beacuse of the open element filter and the fact the the piping is big enough to work with my 75 mm TB.

I don't have a 96+, but I think the Volant looks the best on your cars. $$$, though, and not sure how they stack up against the others.

Here is some good advice. Save you money get you something like some pullies or a timing adj. you will see a lot better power gains. You might not even see a gain with a cold air intake. IMO.

I heard that rotating the MAF 90deg will help compensate for the bend into the fender... I just dont remember which way to turn the MAF.

Anybody have any info?

Chrome-plated CAI's are garbage and cna hurt performance. A fenderwell plastoc or heat-coated CAI \is the best and most benificial

Steeda CAI sucks. Gives the engine lots of hot air. Used it for some time but sold it, now I have the Kenne Bell Cool air kit, that goes in to the fenderwell, much better!
