Hi Stangers,

I've a 332 stroker on 66 Mustang and the distributor is faulty.
My cam is E303 from Ford Racing and my oil pump is a Milodon HV.

I want to buy MSD distributor but I don't know which one to choose ?

What is your opinion about Ford distributor with Milodon HV oil pump ?
I know that the distributor gear don't like HV pump...

Thank you,

Reef

What is the motor built for? Street? Roadrace? A stock distributer is fine for a street/strip car. If you are buzzing it 7500rpm it might be worth buying an MSD distributer. I would worry more about the HV pump breaking the drive shaft than the gear. Make sure you have a heavy duty oil pump shaft and the correct gear for the camshaft type and you should be OK.

You need a steel geared distributor and a HD oil pump shaft. The stock distributors are fine to 7500 with a Pertronix or the stock Duraspark units. If you go with a Duraspark setup, fresh reman steel geared distributors can be bought locally, you want the 85 Mustang HO with manual transmission distributor (around $55-65 with a core distributor in trade, doesn't have to be a Duraspark unit)

Call the MSD tech line and describe your setup. Buy what part number they recomend.

MSD #8598 will work. It has a steel gear for roller cams and works with an MSD ignition box. I have one for sale in the classifieds and I am asking $175 or B/O for it. It is like new with only 2000 miles on it. I removed it so I could go with a stock style fuel injection.

332ci distributor

Hi guys,

First, thank you very much for reply.

It's street/trip engine :
* 332ci strocker (code K)
* Edelbrock Performer RPM Manifold
* Elelbrock Victor Jr heads
* 11.25 JE pistons
* Eagle beam
* Nitrured crank
* MSD ignition (MSD6AL + Pertronix)
* Holley 750 carb
* 303E cam (before 290HR from CompCams)
* Pro Magnum Comp Cams lifter/springs/rockers
* Milodon oil pan with high volume pump
* Mallory gaz pump
* Griffin alu radiator with 14" electric fan
* Pete Jackson belt drive

How say CraigMBA, I going to ask MSD TECH about it.

I prefer to buy MSD than Ford, it's more serious
=> I tested bronze gear : 5000 kilometers
=> Iron gear : 10 kilometers ! (distributor faulty axle...)
Which oil pump advice me ?

Thank you,

Reef
