Hello All,

I have come to the conclusion that my PIP has gone bad in the distributor, after replacing the TFI and still getting error code 14. I was looking at buying a new distributor and noticed that there are ones with steel gears and cast iron gears. Which one should I get for my 92 Mustang GT? The stock distributor is in there now. Thanks.

The codes have to be cleared and then rechecked to see if they regenerated.

A stock cam uses a steel dizzy gear.

I had the code reader read the codes after I replaced the module, which I believe clears the codes. (Correct me if I am wrong) The light didn't come on for a while but eventually came back on. I hope this fixes the problem.

I believe you have to manually tell it to clear the codes, don't you?

You might want to manually clear them (disco' the battery long enough to clear the KAM or disconnect the jumper during the retrieval) and see if the code regenerates. Of course in the meanwhile, be sure to be cautious in case the car stalls out (because the code you're seeing is bonafide).

Should a day with the battery disconnected be long enough to clear the codes?

20 minutes is long enough.

Or just disconnect the battery and turn on the headlights for 30 seconds. This will discharge the caps.
