which distributor?

I have a stock mustang engine (1991) that I went through and was looking at possibly getting a new aftermarket distributor. If I go with an MSD, what part # would I need. I did a search through summit and they gave me like 10. Any help would be appreciated. Or is there a better distributor out there for the price, maybe crane or something? Thanks

stock one will do just fine for you, id keep yours if nothings wrong with it. I hear that stock is just about as good anyway. Just get a better cap/rotor/wires.

You won't really need to upgrade the distributor / ignition system unless you started modifying everything else. If you want to go with an MSD the part number is MSD-8456, this is for fuel injected 5.0L engines with hydraulic roller cams.

Now any aftermarket cams I buy like the lunatis or the say a trick flow or TSF will all be a hydraulic roller cam right? Now I plan on running a 150 shot, is there any part of the ignition system I should upgrade besides wires and colder plugs? Thanks for the part #.

You might want to get an ignition box with a timing retard/advance built into it. I'm not exactly sure how these work, but you will want the timing to be different when you use nitrous than when you are running just motor. You might look at a MSD 6AL or something like that.

Yea the MSD 6AL is perfect. That comes with a built in rev limiter but you will have to buy the retard/advance module seperate. Might as well spring 45 more bucks for the blaster 2 too

I just bought a MSD through Summit, it was cheaper than the stock replacement!!!
