Which flywheel?

I think the aluminum is worth it. Mine revs very quickly and very smooth. There is some debate as to whether the car will hit the tires as hard with an aluminum flywheel compared to a steel piece; I don't think it's true. If you rev the car to 6000 RPM and side-step the clutch with slicks, the clutch is going to dig into the flywheel and the car will take off. How can aluminum stop the clutch from biting as hard? I think it's BS.

If you decide to order a flywheel, just remember that SPEC is Fidanza. They are some of the best names in drivetrain parts, and SPEC is much cheaper than Fidanza.

Mike - I think the price is justified, especially for a street car. Some may say that it is not. It's up to you.

Well Mike, don't just go with what I have to say. Ask Killercanary, he's got a differing opinion from mine, and ask for his reasoning why. Read as much as you can before spending your money on something that may not make a damn bit of difference. I'd also wait until you need a new clutch or are going to upgrade to one. There isn't much sense in pulling the trans, bell, and all that other chit just to put in a flywheel.

i had a frpp aluminum flywheel with a king cobra clutch, it wound up soooo fast... but i burnt them both out beyond repair and ended up getting a new motor after the stang got stolen. the current motor, a FRPP 340bhp 302 w/ gt40X's, e-cam, and more, came with a stock flywheel. well my clutch, a centerforce stage 1, just died and i ordered a AFM Aluminum Flywheel and AFM "Super" king cobra clutch. these parts are going in on monday so i will let you know how they work. it was like $600 for parts, dont know about the labor yet.... but prob not too cheap.

i go to epping and race on my street tires and i liked a lighter flywheel better with them, it shocked the tires a lot less off the starting line and during shifts.

ive gone 13.5@103.6 with a stock flywheel and that centerforce clutch on street tires and 3.08's, i am also getting some 3.73's and a frpp aluminum d/s so my et should pick up a bit, eventhough i refuse to use anything other than my street tires- run what ya brung is what i live by (because i cant afford the track tires and any thing i could have broken from using them) good luck out there ill post some times after i get these parts properly broken in!
