I thought the same thing before, but there is a difference from standard to hipo z-bar configuration, but have not actually tested clearances with the hipo version yet. I am running tri-ys and the stock z-bar linkage on my 1966. The lower portion of the z-bar near the adjusting rod pin will just hit the tri-ys, but this was easily fixed by cutting the "corner" section off near the pin, still leaving enough material for strength. Fits and works fine now.
