I need some tech info on which intake to go with on my 89 5.0. My mods are gt-40p heads with 1.94/1.60 valves e-cam, the intakes I am considering are the cobra intake and the explorer intake, Which one will give me more power, I still have the stock injectors, how will that be with either intake?

I'd pick up a cheap explorer intake, or even a used edelbrock or trick flow.

Yea I see the explorer intakes on ebay are cheaper, how complicated is it to install on a 89?

Doesn't the Cobra intake have a slight edge over an exploder intake??

Ugh, i've been trying to find a tubular GT-40 for some time now to swap with my Cobra. I just like it's appearance better and i've been on a weight loss kick as it weighs about 7 pounds less than the cast Cobra upper

Good luck finding a tubular GT-40 intake. My tubular 351 GT-40 intake cost me about $800.00

You have to shop around more! I paid $400 with shipping for a ceramic coated GT-40 in perfect condition.

But the 351 versions have always been more expensive.

I don't need the lower. I already have a Cobra Intake. I always see uppers for under $400

Here's one

I love the GT40 Intake, I think it is by far the best looking Intake ever offered for the 5.0, plus I like the lighter weight too. Its a shame that Ford Racing stopped producing and selling it!
