So, i have an 89 lx vert. it has an engine out of a 93 SSP in it. so it has the oil cooler. the old owner removed the sway bar because it contacted the oil filter. would you rather have the oil cooler, or front sway bar? or can i have both?

Well, the SSP cars came with both...so there is obviously a way to make it happen.

if the sway hits the oil cooler i would remove the oil cooler, but if your car has skinnies i would remove the front sway bar, many of us dont run oil coolers.

its hitting the filter, because the oil cooler make it hang down farther.

What filter do you have on?? The SSP cars use a shorter filter..not the FL-1A like the normal 5.0 uses.

I forget the number...FL-400 I think

Try the FL-300.

Found it: OIL FILTER, FL300, 5.0/5.8, WITH OIL COOLER, MUSTANG MISCFORD

Yes that's it. With the cooler, you should be running the FL-300 filter and not an FL-1A.

You can also do a remote oil filter. I had to do that on my 70 because the swaybar would contact the oil filter too.
