Which Upper and Lower Intake?

I have a 91 GT convertible with an AT (yes i know it sucks, big heavy converitble with an automatic). Anyhow, trying to decide on which upper and lower to get.

first choice is
Ford Racing Cobra Intake

not sure if this is a decent upgrade from a stock intake or not.

my other choice is
Trick Flow EFI Intake Manifolds

if anyone has any insite on these two products, or dyno numbers or anything, would appreciate the help.

TF....would be my first choice if you are willing to spend a few more bucks

The standard Edelbrock Performer is also a good choice....

if your not going to change heads now or later, a stock intake with a ported lower will make more torque/power where you need it than any of those choices - especially the TF intakes.

It depends on what else you plan to do to the car. If your just doing the intake and now other mods than pretty much any of the above will be the same as any other. BUt if your planning for the future you might want to look for something you can grow in to. I have used both Edlebrock SuperVictor and Trick flow Type R And would recommend either of these companies thought definitely not those particular manifolds for you application

yeah like said before. do u plain of any power adders later. Stuff like this is something u only want to buy once cause the price. On a stock engine i wouldnt look for no more then maybe 5-10 hp gainwhich might put u close to 200rwhp. I had a 306 with slightly ported/shaved .050 heads and a TFS street heat intake and i layed 212rwhp/265rwtq. Then i switched back to the stock intake and it actually felt like it had more low end and quicker.

well it just depends on your long term plan really. i personaly bought the holley systemax 2 intake and love it it was a pretty nice power gain however i didnt dyno it but it had a nice seat of the pants feel to it.but i would def go with the tfs or even the proproducts typhone intake .

you'd hate a Holley SMII on stock heads and you'd also notice a loss in the low-mid with the TF intakes. If your going to change heads/cam later, then tell us so we can recommend a good intake for now and later. What happens is guys put a big intake on the stock heads and the low-mid range goes away but they "feel" the intake come on at 3,000 + rpm and think they have gained a bunch, when in fact average power over the usable rpm band may be lower. SOTP is the worst way to judge - do it on a dyno, the track, or with a G-Force or similar instrument.

i agree that the best way to tell how effective something is by dynoing it but i allso had heads on my car allready to

Dont mean to thread hijack but I figure i wouldnt make a new one.

What if he gets the TFS Street Heat with a stage 1 cam? Will he still lose power because of the stock heads? I am in the same boat as him and I really want the TFS Intake because I eventually want to build up to a Trickflow Top End but don't want to be running with less low-end torque for the 2 months it will take me to save up to buy heads.

well eventually i'd like to change cam/lifters and heads, but like many others, building up the cash to pay for them is the problem.

Cam/lifters will come a lot sooner than heads, if i save up enough b/w now and the time i plan to get the intake ill probably buy a cam set at the same time.
