Just installed a new aluminum driveshaft in my '86 5.0 Mustang and now at certain rpm's a hear a whining noise like someone blowing on the top of a bottle. Happens between 2000 and 3000 rpms. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem?

Went with the Aluminum driveshaft because of the universals clunking at low speeds, and an intermittent bad stuttering in Overdrive when lifting off the throttle a little bit at 55 to 65 mph. I'm hoping this problem is fixed by the DS. Will find out tomorrow. Anyone else run into this?

Mine has more of a whistle...but it's only at 80+...so I don't worry too much about it.

It sounds like you had some bad U-joints......kind of expensive to get a whole new drive shaft, unless you were already in the market for one?

Is it truely at certain RPM's or certain [absolute] speeds?

the aluminum D/S might sound a little more hallow than a regular steel one.

I'm hearing a similar noise too. On mine it occurs around 60-65 mph, in OD. I put an aluminum DS on last year, but I began hearing this sound (kind of a low whistle) a couple of months ago.

Any ideas? I check the "Noise, Vibration, and Harshness" section of the service manual, but didn't find anything in there that quite describes what I'm hearing.
