Does it wipe off? is it a powder? Sounds like whatever wax you are using is breaking down. It could also be lime deposits...in wich case...some lime-away will rid you of that. It can be picked up at any grocery store

What kind of wheels? Are they alum.? If so are they coated or bare. If they are bare alum it could be oxidation.

...and if they are bare aluminum, you just need to have Shane, aka allcarfan do some powdercoating.

See? We are chock full o' answers tonight!

I never thought of oxidation....that was a good response - kind of hard to determine without a pic. I think you whould try polishing them with some mothers wax and see if the powder stops.

Palehorse, thanks for the plug! LOL

how about

rims are often clearcoated. What you are witnessing could be the clear coat coming off.

jerryS,

if you have aluminum wheels that are semi polished and then clearcoated....take that nasty clear off and polish those babies up. It will make a world of difference. Clearcoat on chrome, bare metal, or even polished metal actuall dulls and darkens it....unless you use ZOOP Seal
