The carb is probably OK... What rear axle ratio do you have?

i have the stock 1966 mustang rear, the car was a 3 speed manual. also here is a question in a question. i need a Dizzy and im looking at this HEI Distributors they seem cheap in price and only one wire to hook up. sound good to me! are they good. ok what numbers will i hope to see guys.
i want them bow tie boys doing this >>>:hail2:

Your combo is very much like mine and I am taking it to the dragstrip tonight for it's maiden voyage with the new engine. I should improve on last years 13.23 I ran with the low compression 302. This engine feels like a different beast!
I will let you know.

Here's my combo:

302 now a 347,
AFR 185's,
comp cam XE274H (non roller) 230/236 @ .050"
pro prod. air gap,
KB hypers,
Hooker 1 5/8" headers,
Demon 650cfm,
C4 with a stall of ~ 3000.
10 to 1 compression
3.55 gears

All in a '66 coupe.

your stall should be good. the carb is a little small, it may need to be tuned a bit. the rear gear is probbaly a 3.00 or 3.25, it will work for your low rpm high torque engine setup.
How did your car end up with the pre 66 engine mounts? Your gonna need the 66 and later mounts and brakets if you want to use a header that will flow enough for a 347.

the mounts are the 1966 ones. is that what you were asking? yahh i knew the carb would be a little small but good for the break in. i was hoping for like 400 to the wheels. the car will be bottle baby with a 100 shot. i will wait like 1 year to install it tho. also guys i have some long tubes that were on the 289 and they fit nice in engine bay. i am just wondering if they will work with the AFR heads. the heads seem to have an egg shaped port and the headers are square. is this normal. what long tubes are you guys running? also i would like to thank this site for helping me with this motor. corral.net is a good site but this one seems better. keep the numbers coming and the advice rolling in. l8er:nice:

I don't know the horsepower you will be making, but I can tell you it will be a fun and fast car. Traction is MUCH harder to come by now than with my 13.2 second 302 I had.

I did muster a 12.44 at close to 109 mph last night in my '66 coupe first time out with basically the same combo you have.

I have started another thread about it so I wont be hijacking your's.

you have good chance to make 400rwhp. I dont think your intake, cam, carb and exhaust will get you there with only 347 cubes. And if you do step up the engine and install oxide the roller block might not live to long.
Those hooker headers will work with your combo for now, they should fit the heads just fine, your only other choice for headers will be custom 1 3/4, some company does have them off the shelf but dont remeber the name.
