Who has done home porting on iron gt-40 heads?

I'm getting a set tomorrow and I would like to know what i'm getting into with trying to home port some heads.

I think Tmoss should be able to help you out with that, but if you've never done it before you might be better off just paying the little he charges and having him do it.

I only port intakes. Do a search on "head porting" and you'll get lots of info

I have done both, but for guys on the boards I only do intakes.

I bought a set of those heads fully ported and polished by a machine shop. I was very happy with the gain over the stockers. Gained about 25hp. Only disadvantage is that I still want an aluminum head for better flow and the advantage of less weight. So Im gonna have to go though swapping heads again. Not my favorite thing to do.

Funny I have always heard that if you had a iron head and an alum. head that were equal in flow/portsize (identicle(sp?) I mean) that the iron head would make more power and the alum. would just be lighter. So are you saying you want some higher flowing heads, or that you feel if your heads were alum. they would flow better?
