Who has the best low cost fenders?

I am tossing the old rusted and holed units. Just too much work to get them straight. Who do you think has the best repro fenders for fit? This is not going to be a show car, nor a restored one per my sig. I am buying the Cobra Automotive R model front end this week, so I am sure I will have to "massage the fit" anyway, but... Opinions???

I can only speak to my exp - I have gotten fenders from American Pony Parts and NPD. They were both satisfactory in quality and price.

Well, I bought repops from Laurel Mountain Mustang and they wuz, umm, sorta ok. Had to do a lot of massaging to make it fit just right, and they painted up fine and looked good. BUT, they are really thin, and I've already had a rock thrown up from the tire hit the underside of the fender and put a really small dimple on top of the fender from the underside making my fender look like it has a small zit. I'm sure a factory fender would not have bent this easily.

If I had it to do over.........I'd buy some original tooling fenders that are the same guage as original, or cut and patch your old ones.

Trying to save $200 to $400 is not worth it when you pay $5K for a paint job. Trust me.......

yup, what he said. The repops aren't all that great. But If you still do not want to spend the $$$ for a new original tooling fender. I have a NEW Driver Side repop I will sell for a deal. Email me if you are interested.

I actually met a guy from Tulsa who has some really thick (same gauge as original... very close) for $180. Met him at the TriState Swap (sucked... all Chevy, only two Mustang vendors) I placed my order today. He also has the nicest Fiberglass hoods I have seen! I am getting a '67 style shelby hood ($390 + $40 for him to gell coat the underside for me) to go with the Cobra Automotive Rmodel front end I just ordered.

sounds like a deal. I would be interested to see what fenders he has that he is selling for that price. That is slighty more than most repops and substantially less than the new "original tooling" ones out of ohio.

I see him every year at the local swap show in Arlington, Tx.
Really nice guy.

Totally cool guy. Actually out to make and HONEST buck! The fenders should be here in a week. I will post a new thread when I get them and let you know how they fit and give an actual thickness comparison to original.
