who has the cobra disc brake conversion?

mustangsteve was mentioning that there may be an issue with torque thrust wheels even if they are 17's hitting the calipers when doing his cobra disc brake swap.

i was curious if anyone had any problems with any other rims hitting the calipers.

I have Steves brackets but I have 18" wheels......they hit the upper control arm. Other than that they fit PERFECT and with rear disc to the car stops on a dime.

Mine fit like a champ, no problems. IIRC Steve's kit doesn't have a problem with the outlide of the rim. It was the area outside the mounting flange that becomes a problem.

As the spokes curve back is where they contact.

I am very interested in the rear disk swap. I have been debating the explorer disks or mustang steve's. I am not sure which one will stop better which will probably make up my decision but anything at this point is better than stock. Do either one push out the track width? Maybe spacers... though I hate them will give you the clearance.

Any rear disc will stop better than drums. Rotors are thicker than drums so yes they will move the wheels out but very little.

Best if you can trial fit the rims.
