There was a new SRT8 Challenger in the field at the FFW in Bristol and if I remember it ran a 14.2 or a 14.4. I am sure I remember it running a 15 something once. It also was sooooo big it looked like woodgrain would not have out of place on that barge. I would not trade my gt for one plus $10,000 if i had to drive it any length of time.

Will walk before i drive a camaro. Cheap imitation that wont last as long as the last one did and i still have trouble telling the difference between them and a geo storm.

I def. will not purchase the new Camaro. Although I think it looks really good and its performance numbers look very promising, I'm a die hard Mustang fan by heart. Regardless of whether or not the Camaros are faster, I just love the feel I get every time I get into my car or any other Mustang I have ever driven in the past. The Mustang is a car that is known world wide, whereas the Camaro is not. Both have history, but I feel that the Mustang has more of a legacy. And that's what I love about this car!

I am going to hold my CS for awhile, and from this car, I will purchase another Mustang. Even if my priorities change, and I need another type of vehicle in the future, I will always keep a Stang in the house.

With all of that being said however, I am looking forward to seeing the Camaros on the street. I did not live through the Muscle Car era, but with the kind of cars we have out on the street today, I think it feels a bit like it

Im more than likely getting the new camaro

Its only 3800lbs and the HP rating is 422. But LS3s are putting down 380-390

Did you really just say "only" 3800 lbs?

GT equivalent will be 400 hp and GT500 equivalent (or maybe Shelby GT is better comparison) will be 422 hp.

Are you saying you think the 2010 GT is going to have 400hp?

You cant compare the GT500, they cost $15k more than what a base model SS will cost.

This shouldnt turn into a war. But for the $ the camaro is a great car.

Now if I could get a 07 GT500 for $31-34k I might change my mind.

You really think a base SS will come in at $30,000?

Anyways, I will not be buying a Camaro, new or used, unless it's a 69 Z28, but only after I already have a 69 Boss 302 Stang and that's not happening until I hit the lottery

I'm going to have to take a good look at the Challenger and Camaro before I commit to a Mustang. We'll see how it goes since I've pushed back my planned purchase date.

I just wish they could get a hold on the weight of these cars. The Challenger is ridiculously heavy at 4000lbs for the R/T, so the extra HP it has over a Mustang GT is negated by all of that fat.

Not sure what the Camaro will weigh, 3800lbs someone said? Way too fat, still.

We shall see...

Judging by the looks of the 2010 Mustang, it doesn't appeal to me at all. If I was changing, it would be for a Camaro SS but then since my 05 still has under 10k on the clock, it's staying.

In a few years, I'll be looking for a new-model CTS-V as I'll have 3 kids by then so the Mustang and Camaro become fairly useless. Slumming it never seemed so good.

Well the rumors say the 2010 GT will be 400 hp, but I was saying either the Z28 or SS (I think SS will be the lower end model this time around) will have 400 hp. That will likely come in more expensive than the GT like it always has.

The higher end model of the Camaro will have 422 hp. I wasn't sure which Mustang model would be the best parallel - Shelby GT or GT500. Shelby GT is probably better both price and relative power-wise. It would be difficult for Chevy to ever make a GT500 equivalent Mustang given that it would end up costing as much as a Vette and would still be slower and wouldn't handle as well.

I feel bad for GM. They have royally screwed the pooch. (what an odd phrase?)

I think the Camaro and the Chevy Volt, are two cars that could get them back in black. The question is, will they survive long enough to get them to market?

I would certainly test drive a Camaro when looking for the next ride. Here is my list:

Nissan 370Z: Great power to weight and absolutly stunning design.

Chevy Camaro V8: good car, but already "long in the tooth" because we have seen so many photos.

2010 Mustang: it is growing on me. I'd probably wait and see if they are going to change the engine options.

Ford SVT Raptor. That thing is awesome.

Oh and, the Pontiac G8 GXP is supposed to be very good. I like the look, sort of, and would have to have a manual tranny which I think it coming but not out yet.

I will just keep my 2009 mustang , fully loaded GT for 26,000.
I don't think a Canaro will sell anywhere close to that, Besides that, "Speed kills, play it safe, Buy a Chevy"

When I want to smoke a Z06 I drag out my pinto. 10.40 140mph, Traction is a problem,
Fully street with lic plates and mufflers. But , Alas, I will no longer have after next week. BOOO HOOO.

The Camaro and Dodge look ok, Just as they looked ok in 67, when they came out. But a Mustang is a Mustang.

The only Chevy I would own would be a 572 fat boy.

I saw the new Camaro yesterday at the New England auto show in Boston. Looked ok from the side but did not like the rear at all. Also saw a 2010 Mustang V6 vert, but really need to see a GT coupe before I decide if I like it or not.

In response to the pending Congressional Bailout plan, GM has announced that the Camaro will be renamed the Chevrolet Comrade!

I personally like the new Camaro. I've always been a bigger Mustang fan than of the past competitors, but I think they nailed it with the new Camaro. It does have a bit more of a boy-ish, "toy"-ish and kind of a cheesier look than the Mustang or Challenger, but I think it does what it's intended to, and the plus points of the styling outweigh the Mustangs IMO.

I didn't really like the '10 Mustang too much when I saw it at the Auto Show, but we'll see how it fares on the streets.

I also can't tell what my real feelings of the Challenger are, on one hand, I look at it and see the biggest, fattest, ugliest beast ever, and it's interior is as blah as it gets, and on the other, I look at it and see a completely awesome beast of a car.

you're either kidding, or you're not a true muscle car enthusiast. I'm loving thought of brand new stangs, camaros and challengers on the road again. it would definitely suck if any of them got squashed.

personally, I'm very content with my stang, as it's very near perfect (for me), so I have absolutely no interest in anything else, except to see them on the road & track.
