Kenne Bell only offers the 2.2L for the 94/95 Mustangs now.

I've been over this same topic myself for a while, but have leaned more towards having my stock engine rebuilt into a 306 with a CHP kit and AFR heads. Then I'll throw on a new 2.2L KB and have a major tune done. This keeps me emissions legal too.

Only downside for me with the KB is the strut tower brace issue. No one seems to make one and I've only seen one SN95 with a KB and an STB. I've been told I'd have to get one custom made. I'm into handling and plan on more suspension upgrades, but I like what the KB brings to the table in a street car.

Anyone on here have a KB blower and a strut tower brace?

How many miles do you have Pokageek (or did I miss that)? I have over 155,000 miles and I not comfortable doing anything to the engine at this point. I'm going to have patience for another year and then go nuts.

New engine?! Throw anything you want on it within reason. Finish with a proper tune and you're set.

Geek, what cam do you have? that is also a factor in final dynamic (running) compression and whether boost is good with your combo or not.

Piston rings on #5 and #8 will go before anything in the block. I ran 12psi on the stock block for awhile until the #8 ring came apart.

Factory 3.33 pulley, usually around 8 pounds. Sometimes less.

Thanks guys, good discussion. So y'all think that if the tune is there I will be good. Also add an intercooler?

Ok, so here is another question..those of you who are using the stock block for a 331/347 set up with a power adder... Isn't that pushing the limits of the block even more? or is there something about 331/347 that makes the block tougher? Thanks.

yes it is. when i ordered my motor from coast i just couldnt justify the extra $1800 for the dart block. so basically i have a rotating assembly capable of high rpm's and handling 850+ hp in a block that is almost certain to fail at just above half of that. as far as longevity of a stock block in a 500+ situation like mine, all you can do is keep the tune rich, the timing low, and the rpm's down. mind you i am only speaking from experiences i have read on hardcore since im a lazy bastard and my car has been sitting at 90% complete for 2 months now.

im certain aftermarket rings were used in your build so you are probably fine in that department. as was stated before though, make sure to keep the boost down due to the high c/r.

Thanks guys. They said I have a "B" cam but they said it has .510 lift so must be a version of the b-cam.

Why? I would like to know. Also, how much HP can you get with 6 or 9 psi AND can it bee tuned to keep the power at a lower RPM like 4500? Reason I ask is because with nirtous, you have to RETARD the timing which takes away HP and then bump up so there is a lower base starting point if yo uknow what I mean.

I would think keeping your RPM limit around 5500 or so would be just fine. I think the big concern is if you get intersted in the 6000+ range. That's where the stock block can present problems in certian situations when higher horsepower is involved.

You must never have checked out turbomustangs.com

I have run 17 psi and always run at least 15 psi with a completely stock lower end. I have accidently hit 20 psi and nothing broke.

It's all in the tune.
