I don't have enough time to explain why road racing/autocrossing is harder. Many good points have been made already. Simply put though, the elements of the two are more like comparing apples to battleships. It's NOT a knock on the quarter milers. It's just the scope is SO different. I think both are fun. And being someone who does both I have two cents worth. You really have to do both to have a solid opinion. Otherwise you're just sticking up for whichever one you do.

And there's nothing wrong with having a debate like this.... it's fun. :)

Hey, remember when John Andretti drove a Top Fuel Car and won a national event?
My personal opinion is that the WRC drivers posess the highest skill set, followed closely by the road racers. Long hours of intense concentration.

yes, Drag Racing does require instant reflexes, but so do all motorsports.

Dirt track racing is tough too! (something I'd love to try!)

My vote for the most versatile race drivers ever: A.J. Foyt, Dan Gurney, Mario Andretti, Tony Stewart (bound to stir some arguments), Jeff Gordon (unfortunately), and other similar drivers, due to thier versatility. I purposely leave Michael Schumacher out, as he has not diversified enough. I want to see him wheel a sprint car! HAH!

I would have added Al Jr. to your list. He has proven himself in Indy, stock, go cart and even the Pikes Peak hill climb, which I was able to attend.
