Fox Who Runs 4pt Harness On The Street? Looking Into Schroth Profi Ii Asm Harnesses

I will be installing a MM 6pt cage with removeable door bars...different racing seats and harnesses...i want to run a 4pt but ive read of some safety concerns with a 4pt in a frontal crash i.e. submarining, lap belt riding up, extreme whiplash etc...

Schroth offers a line of harnesses that allows the shoulder harness closest to the center of the car to "stretch" a few inches thus greatly reducing the chances of the previously mentioned concerns...

Just looking for some feedback on the subject and if anyone has experience with these harnesses

I rode around for a few years with Sparco 5 point harnesses. They had a cam lock so I could leave my right shoulder and the 5th strap detached. There was no way I was going to " submarine " out of it. Also, I had Sparco racing seats that fit me.

I could have offset the cam lock to the innermost side of the seat, but I never did that. Most of the time I rode around with the 4 points latched. Never crashed so I can't speak on that.

Don’t run a 4 point. They’re not safe. Its not so much the submarineing as the fact that all the pressure during a crash will be on your internal organs because of the location of the belts. I’m putting harnesses in my Monster Miata project, and I’m not going anything less than 5-point. The only issue you run into then is mounting the crotch belt. It needs to go through the seat to have the proper mounting angle. Running it in front of the seat button is not good enough.

Go 5 or 6 point. They’re not much more expensive, and they’re much safer.

Thanks for the replies...Thats why i was asking abt the schroth ASM 4pt...they are specifically designed to act similar to a 3pt in the event of a frontal crash...
