I took my smog assembly off about 2 years ago and just went with a shorter belt. Problem was that my belts kept getting stretched and began squealing after just a few months no matter how tight the belt was. Don't know if anybody else has had a similar problem .
got mine from summit for 65 bucks, btw the smog pump is pretty heavy so i personally would rather delete something i am not using and save the weight than just bypass it with a short belt.

That's exactly why I bought the eliminator over simply running a shorter belt. By running the belt from the bottom of the crank to the alternator is too far of a distance to be traveled and does not allow the tensioner to put enough pressure on the belt (it may at first, but like you said, belts stretch and you will run into a problem again.) Once the belts stretch, the tensioner becomes maxed out and there is not longer adequate tension on the belt, allowing it to slip. I ran into this problem on a Kenne Bell supercharged car. I would always see evidence of rubber on the hood and around the blower pulley were the belt was slipping due to inadeqaute tension. Belts aren't cheap enough either to be buying new ones all the time because they are slipping.
i had a shorbelt on there already to bypass it and the ac...But i put on a vortech and with the alternator moved it allows no tension at all and i need that pully there, i found one on ebay today so i dont need anymore links, thanks though. but does anyone know the beltsize to bypass ac only with a vortech?
